In 1605, Incorporated Trades of Glasgow came together to form the Trades House of Glasgow. They existed to regulate trade, commerce and training and played a vital role in shaping and making Glasgow the city it is today.
The 14 Incorporated Trades are Hammermen, Tailors, Cordiners, Maltmen, Weavers, Bakers, Skinners, Wrights, Coopers, Fleshers, Masons, Gardeners, Barbers, Bonnetmakers & Dyers. Together, they yearly elect members of the Trades House, headed by the Deacon Convener of the Trades.
In their work today, the Trades House and the Crafts act as charitable foundations for the common good and support good causes such as schools, hospitals and the elderly.
