We also work with some of the best suppliers in the business organising everything from the largest Royal dinner to the smallest local meeting, each one as important as the other. These fantastic teams include musicians, bands, florists, photographers, cake makers, interior decorators, transport providers – the list is endless.

We want to share our contacts and their expertise with you through some of the following blogs and ideas. Please remember that this list is by no means exhaustive and you are more than welcome to use your own preferred supplier.

Gordy is a DJ!

We are so thrilled with Gordon Boyle's (aka Gordy is a DJ) blog about a recent wedding he DJ'd at the Trades Hall we wanted to share with you. Read on, and check out their website too!

Our customers absolutely love it when we take the time to review their wedding venues. We feel privileged to visit so many outstanding properties throughout Scotland and this week’s blog is about the fabulous Trades Hall of Glasgow.

Like us, you may think to yourself – where abouts in Glasgow is that located? We had walked past it many times without knowing it was there. On looking back at our diary of bookings, we had actually visited it many many moons ago and had completely forgotten about this gem of a venue! Located on Glassford Street, city centre – it is an elegant building steeped in history (established in 1605) and has so much character when you step inside.

We had the pleasure of providing the entertainment for the McLean wedding in January and we were so thrilled to be included in their special day.

As always, with every wedding couple, Gordy is a DJ conducts a visit of the venue (where possible) before the couple’s big day to meet the staff and look at access/room layout etc. We had the pleasure of meeting Elaine who gave us a guided tour of the building and was extremely helpful in explaining the running order of the day. The information and assistance she provided made our job so much easier and she is not only friendly but an asset to the venue – thank you Elaine!!

Wedding couples have exclusive use of the venue with 6 rooms being on offer depending on their individual requirements.

Small and intimate weddings can easily be catered for but the hall can actually hold up to 200+. This unique, historic venue has something for everyone!

Access to the building can be from the front but we found the back entrance (Virginia Place) much more user-friendly. We actually set up our equipment first thing in the morning meaning we could take our time and not worry about keeping guests/wedding couple waiting. All the staff were super helpful and cheery. There is a designated stage area for DJs and bands but there is plenty of space and power sockets. The bar is situated in the adjoining room which is ideal to avoid splitting the crowd up.

The attention to detail provided by the staff

The Trades House staff provide real attention to detailensures a wedding couple’s vision becomes a reality. A bespoke package can be tailor made to suit the couple’s specific requirements and the team are on hand to recommend suppliers.

The experience that the staff has is evident and we were extremely impressed with the way the whole occasion was run – nothing was too much trouble and they looked after us well!

The Grand Hall where the evening reception took place has 5 stunning arched windows and chandeliers – the Victorian decor really takes you back in time to a different era and is stunning for photographs.

The size of the room means there is plenty of space for dancing without feeling crammed and as the photograph below demonstrates allows all wedding guests to let their hair down and PARTY!!! Our disco lighting which the couple hired enhanced the atmosphere of the room and everyone at the McLean wedding knew how to celebrate – we loved every second!

Our wedding venue review blogs are completely honest – we don’t make things up just to appease a wedding couple or the staff at the venue. Gordy is a DJ loves visiting new places and we are happy to share our experiences with other wedding couples, friends and even competitors. Any advice and assistance that we can provide to others in our opinion can only be seen as a positive thing.

Trades Hall of Glasgow is now a venue that we definitely wish to re-visit and we hope that this blog has given you an insight into why it is such a unique and beautiful setting for your wedding.
