Midsummer Night's Ball raises £22,500 for Kinship Care

You may not realise, but Trades Hall is the home of The Trades House of Glasgow: today a modern charity but established way back in 1605 to help support the trades and crafts people of the city and their families. It is worth remembering that when you hold an event or wedding in Trades Hall, all income arising is used to support charitable purposes. What a wonderful thought!

Kinship Care is this year's Deacon Convener's chosen charity, which helps children and the family and friends that care for them when they can no longer be looked after by their parents. Glasgow has the highest rate of kinship arrangements in Scotland. Alcohol and drug addiction are the most common causes of kinship care but it can also be due to parental mental health issues, illness, imprisonment, death or neglect.

The main fundraiser this year was The Trades House Midsummer's Night Ball, which was a huge success, and thanks to the huge generosity of the guests and sponsors RAISED OVER £22,500 FOR KINSHIP CARE! These events are only ever as successful as their guests - so a heartfelt thank you all that gave their support!!

It was a wonderful night, with amazing prizes given from the silent auction and raffle, delicious food and dancing to Swing Sensation Dance Band until the wee small hours.

We are indebted to the Ball's generous sponsors: Tunnock's, Arnold Clark, Vision Events Glasgow, Investec, Speirs & Jeffrey and YSM Eventsmart.
